School News 10th April 2025

Spring Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for all of your support this term. From trips out, visitors in, workshops, assemblies, meetings, and productions, we feel your support and welcome your investment in your child/children's education and experiences.

Parents' evening last week was a great success, and a big thank you to all who attended. Our partnership will increase our children's success. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child's teacher, and they will meet with you in the new term.

We have received the Trust total amount raised for our 'Dress to Express' day—a whopping £1265, which will be donated to the charity Place2Be. Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with over 30 years of experience working with pupils, families, and staff in UK schools.

I wish you all a peaceful, happy, and healthy Easter break and look forward to welcoming you back on Monday, 28th April, where we will continue to work in partnership for our children.

Best wishes,

Mrs Purshouse

(Head Teacher)

Year 3 & 4 Springtime Production Pirates Vs Mermaids

Thank you to all of our families and friends for supporting our wonderful Year 3 and Year 4 children who put on the performance of a lifetime this week! The children listened carefully to the direction from the adults and spoke clearly, acted with emotion and sang their hearts out. It was a truly magnificent performance and we are all very proud of the messages shared in the production about our differences and similarities. You may identify as a pirate or you may identify as a mermaid but we all share the kingdom of the sea together.

School Football Week 2025

Last week Goldthorn celebrated Schools’ Football Week, classes from Reception up to Year 6 took part in football sessions in our PE lessons.  We also hosted our very own penalty shoot out for KS2 children on Wednesday and Thursday!

We have embraced  football and the wellbeing benefits it provides to pupils and players.   On Friday, children received prizes and certificates for top sportsmanship in our merit assembly! Thanks to all of our super star pupils who took part and Soccer 2000 staff for delivering these sessions!

Year 1 Trip to the Mosque

This half term, Year 1 have been learning about the Islamic faith, Muslim beliefs and practise. We were invited into the Mosque and given a talk by the Imam about the place of worship and the Islamic faith and then had a tour around the mosque where we saw the different prayer rooms.

As always, the children behaved with impeccable manners and represented Goldthorn Park Primary school and their families well.

Year 1 Computing - EngadedU

On Wednesday, March 26th, Year 1 participated in a Computing Workshop conducted by Mr. Hartley from EngadedU. The children were taught how to access apps on an iPad, which they then used to practice their alphabet and keyboard skills by matching letters. They utilized Balloon Stickies and Book Creator, connecting these activities to our topic on Mary Anning, the fossil hunter. It was an outstanding day of computing for Year 1!
